Kansas City is more than just barbecue (although there is a reason we are known for it, and the venue is located about 4 minutes from LC's BBQ, a city best since the 1980s)!

Our venue, the Ararat Shrine Temple Auditorium on Eastwood Trafficway has plenty of parking and is just about 6 minutes south of Arrowhead & Kauffman Stadiums, home of the Chiefs and the World Series Champion Royals! Kansas City is also home to Roasterie Coffee and Boulevard Brewery which both offer tours of their facilities. About 15 minutes northwest of the venue is Union Station, home to Science City, and the Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre. Also in that area is our first festival venue, the nationally recognized World War I Museum. The Steamboat Arabia is an excellent museum at the City Market that is built around a paddle wheeler that was excavated from a field near Kansas City. There are multiple gardens in the area as well as a fantastic zoo a little further south. The Negro League Baseball Museum is another must visit attraction along with the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum.

If shopping is your idea of a good trip, then there are several locations around the area that can accommodate you. Crown Center is about 15 minutes northwest and the Country Club Plaza, a nationally known retail district with upscale shopping is around 18 minutes almost directly west.

If food is what you want to add to your experience, we have so many great restaurants that it would take pages and pages to list them all. We have dynamic restaurant experiences from local and nationally known chefs scattered throughout the Metro area. Power & Light District is one area to check out as is the Westside neighborhood, Southwest Boulevard and Westport.

This year we coincide with First Friday as well! Our Crossroads Arts District is where it all happens and it is packed with galleries that stay open late as well as more restaurants than you could shake a stick at! And did we mention food trucks yet?? If you don't get to First Friday in the Crossroads, you can always make it up on Saturday with First Friday Weekend in the West Bottoms. If the largest vintage and antique market in the US piques your interest, the West Bottoms on First Friday Weekend is THE place to be. Again, more restaurants and food trucks to keep you fortified while you browse are a feature of this area on the first weekend of the month.

While we lack a train or monorail, and our city is spread out enough that cycling isn't terribly practical in a lot of places, we do have Uber as well as several cab companies and the airport is super easy and fast to get in and out of.

Other resources to help plan your visit can be found at Visit KC.

Our lodging partner is the Hampton Inn & Suites on the Country Club Plaza. This is a nice hotel about 15 minutes from the venue.  Book here.

Otherwise, for hotels, if you want to look closer to the venue, search around Arrowhead Stadium as a landmark. Unfortunately, there are no hotels within walking or cycling distance of the venue.
