Facts about the Midwest Tea Festival (Kansas City, Missouri)

Date of 5th Annual Festival: September 7-8, 2019

Attendees 2015: 650 (270 presold tickets)

Attendees 2016: 850 (760 presold tickets)

Attendees 2017: 837 (649 presold tickets)(date moved from spring to autumn and 1 1/2 year gap between festivals)

Attendees 2018: 1020

Attendee Demographics:  Mainly women, 35-65, but all years have seen an increase in attendees in the 25-35 range, both male and female, as well as men in the 50-65 range.  

Vendors in 2015: 19 (75% Midwestern)

Vendors in 2016: 26 + 3 local charities  (81% Midwestern)

Vendors in 2017: 35 + 2 local charities (74% Midwestern)

Vendors in 2018: 35 + 2 local charities (75% Midwestern)

Organization: Currently organized as C-Corporation run solely by volunteer effort at this point – no salaried employees. 

What we offer to attendees:

  • Small group tasting café sessions and workshops (for additional fee). 

  • Lecture and demonstration presentations which are included with admission ticket purchase. In the past these have included Featured Speakers James Norwood Pratt and Bruce Richardson as well as an ITCC Cup Warming Social, a demonstration of Japanese tea ceremony and a social tea & scones group discussion.

  • Involvement in the community via our charitable partner, Literacy KC, who receives a percentage of admission sales and proceeds from donated raffle items

  • Opportunity to connect with other tea lovers, to grow their knowledge and to gain exposure to new regional and national tea merchants

 

What we can offer to you:

  • Regional exposure to an audience thirsting for tea and all things tea-related. At this time, there is no other tea focused event in the Midwestern region of the country that is both open to the public and within driving distance for so many states.

  • Connection with tea merchants who sell your products.

  • Exposure to a Facebook page that has generated over 1900 followers in 3 years, exposure through promotion on many area calendars and at local events throughout the year as well as Facebook and Instagram. Promotion through Festival bi-monthly newsletter with over 900 subscribers and an average open rate of around 60%.

Silver Needle Sponsor (1 available): $3000

  • Logo on all advertising as “sponsored by” & logo on goodie bags & product or advertising material placement in goodie bag up to 1000  (available to be on goodie bags until July 30 and on advertising until May 10- after these dates, the items will be at the printers)

  • Logo on tasting cups 

  • Co-branded backdrop (you & the festival) for pictures

  • Complimentary 16x10 booth with choice of location

  • Bi-weekly social media mentions for a year from the point at which you become a sponsor (note that you must have social media content to be shared for this to happen bi-weekly)

  • Earl the Tea-Rex hands out your donated products as door prizes as he travels around the event (must be products, not just advertising material)

Tea Buds (unlimited*): $50

  • (*Festival reserves the right to limit participation in this level based on size of business – as it is intended for fairly small or new businesses*)
